Still Life With Landscape (Model for a Habitat)
New York City, High Line Park (W20th and W21st)
The highly intricate and architectural series of stainless steel rods dotted with wooden bird boxes and feeders sets up perspective lines that align with the highly industrial and (to some extent) recently renovated cityscape. The wooden elements in this design, provide food, shelter and safety for the wildlife located on the High Line Park and Sarah purposefully left it as a somewhat open-ended project so that what to do from here relies entirely on those who run the park. (parks and rec :D). This structure builds up from a narrow point in the ground and gradually opens up/reaches outward symbolizing the growth of this park and what people can really do with this ever-evolving sense of properly planned design.
